Gemotions

"I need a break," she muttered under her breath, staring at the overflowing inbox on her computer screen. The emails just kept coming, a never-ending stream of demands and expectations. She hadn't left her desk in hours. She needed some air, a change of scenery. She decided to sort through her mothers belongings, to try and get her mind off things.

The attic was a dusty labyrinth, a repository of forgotten things. Among the moth-eaten furniture and yellowed photographs, she found a large, unmarked trunk. Inside, lay a treasure trove of her childhood. Every single piece of schoolwork, from kindergarten scribbles to university essays.

She felt a weight, a heavy pressure pushing her down, down. Flipping through the pages, her fingers tracing the familiar handwriting, she experienced an unexpected mix of emotions. A profound sense of loss, and a deep-seated weariness.
